Townsville, Queensland May 2, 2022 (Issuewire.com) - Born in Kuwait and raised by aircraft engineer and air hostess parents, Dr. Mark Vucak traveled far and wide as a child. He had a really adventurous life and one might not have thought of him going into the surgery industry. He used to participate in international canoeing competitions and also represented Australia in chess competitions when he was much younger. He decided not to follow his parents' line and created his own path.
After his extensive education, he began his career as a surgical consultant. Dr. Vucak worked at Royal Perth Hospital, Freemantle Hospital, and Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital. While working as a surgical consultant, he gained more practical first-hand knowledge of surgical operations.
In 1994, Dr. Vucak established the first and only plastic surgery practice in Townsville, Queensland Plastic Surgery. Additional offices were also opened in Mackay, Cairns, and Rockhampton. This innovation gave people the opportunity to undergo cosmetic procedures locally. The fact that they didn't have to travel out of North Queensland for breast augmentation made it more available for them.
As someone dedicated to making people feel more comfortable in their bodies, Dr. Vucak went on to establish Chrysalis Medispa in 2000, also in Queensland.
According to him, one of the most rewarding aspects of his job is getting to know his patients and treating families. He is proud of the number of returning patients he has and has seen many of his patients bring in or recommend him to family members. North Queenslanders appreciate being able to undergo surgery locally. Dr. Mark Vucak has operated on over 70,000 patients in North Queensland alone.
Over his 30-year career, plastic surgery techniques and technology have evolved. Dr. Vucak has seen significant changes during this time. While breast augmentation used to be the commonest procedure he performed, breast reduction and tummy tucks have become a very common type of surgery now.
Dr. Vucak also said that social media has helped change how people feel about surgery. Since the evolution of social media, people get encouraged and motivated when they see a before and after picture of someone who had done a tummy tuck or breast reduction. They see that it is possible it is to make these changes. This has helped greatly in making people see the possibility of making the changes they want and feeling comfortable in their bodies.
As a successful surgeon, Dr. Mark Vucak has done over 2,000 breast reductions, 2,000 tummy tucks, and more than 10,000 breast augmentations. His clients also include lots of people from outside Queensland and even outside Australia. Aside from carrying out plastic surgeries, he also shares his knowledge with surgical trainees and interns at James Cook University. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family, including his two young daughters.
